Meet the Dentists

Dr. Gurneen Sidhu

Dr. Gurneen Sidhu

I grew up in the Maritimes and always loved school. I actually entered the profession quite young being one of the youngest in my class (Dalhousie Dentistry 1996!) to graduate. I moved to Ottawa from my hometown in Dartmouth N.S.and spent the next 15 years practicing as an associate dentist. Aside from family dentistry, I have also had the opportunity to work for the city of Ottawa’s dental clinics, provide dental service to retirement homes, work as a clinical instructor in Algonquin’s hygiene program, and work for the Royal College of Dental Surgeons where I presently hold a committee position. I practice general and preventative dentistry. My aim is always to educate my patients. I think being the daughter of two teachers and having two sisters as teachers means I couldn’t do it any other way! I enjoy working in a relaxed and efficient atmosphere because it means I can focus on my patients. I am fortunate enough to be able to say that just about everyday is a good one and look forward to many years of the same. When I’m not working, I am usually at home with my husband and 2 young daughters. After over 20 years here, we continue to enjoy Ottawa like we are a couple of tourists, its distinct neighborhoods, food scene and surrounding countryside. One of our common passions is ultimate frisbee which helps keep us in shape. I can’t wait to meet you, get to know you and your family (especially the little ones) and beware if you are from Halifax/Dartmouth, I won’t stop until I find at least one person we know in common!

Dr. Sam Rahbar

Originally from Ottawa and a University of Ottawa alumni in Biology, Dr. Rahbar graduated with Honours at the University of Toronto’s Doctor of Dental Surgery program. Upon graduation, he moved to the United States to further advance his training by completing two years of General Practice Residency in hospital settings.

His first destination was Seattle where he attended the University of Washington, working under the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. There he gained experience in managing dental trauma and emergencies, sedation dentistry and providing medical care in a dental setting.

Subsequently, he was employed by UCLA and attended the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center in California where he served as a chief resident and continued to expand his skills in general dentistry, particularly in implant surgery and prosthodontics.

Now back in Ottawa, Dr. Rahbar strives to constantly grow as a clinician, by routinely taking courses and aiming to serve his patients in all facets of dentistry. His goal is to change the perception of dentistry and help patients overcome dental anxiety.

Dr. Rahbar enjoys travelling for leisure as well as providing dental care to underserviced communities both locally and abroad. He is a foodie, a sports fanatic and spends his free time hiking or playing and recording music.
